"Grappling Grizzlies" Collection

"Grappling Grizzlies" is a piece presenting a bunch of firsts for me. First, I exercised the environmentalist in me and using recycled shredded paper, made my own paper clay. I then used the clay to form the two bears on a new surface utilizing an aluminum sheet as a backing with multiple layers of paper on top. I felt the rigid backing would come in handy to minimize any cracking of the clay and support the whole piece. The completed piece is 16 x 20, brought to life entirely with water soluble color pencils.
